After I graduated with my BA in Contemporary Ministry from a small Christian college in

long discussions about what I really wanted to do, I found an ad for a
car dealership that was hiring. They actually paid for my training as
part of a selection process for the right candidate, and, after
advancing me to the final decision making round, told me that they did
not want to hire me. Well, it was during the
training that they had paid for (thanks a lot, guys) that I started to
see how rewarding a career in sales could be. One
thing our facilitator said really stood out to me: "Sales is the truest
profession, because it is a reflection of yourself ". For me
personally, this is the kind of life I want to lead -- one that
outwardly shows my internal values. At the end of the day, my success
may be measured by how many cars I've sold, but the real motivation for
me is how honestly I've conducted myself, and how accurately I've met
my customer's needs.
Coming
up on three years in the industry, I’m starting to see that it’s rare
to find a salesperson who stays at a dealership for much longer than
one or two years. From my observations, a lot of
them leave because they haven’t treated their customers well enough to
reap the rewards of repeat and referral business. The
other thing I’ve learned (and trust me, this one didn’t take long!) is
that honesty isn't the first thing that comes to mind when people
approach a car salesman. Shocking, I know. However,
I was raised to believe that it is the best policy to operate by, and I
see it with each customer that is rewarded by dealing with us here at

My name is Malcolm Lake and I’m privileged to be your representative at Lockwood Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ltd. My first anniversary here is approaching and the year has been the most fun I’ve had in business, ever. My previous history contains such things as landscaping, large format graphic production and IT support and sales. It took me 50 years to find home but I’m sure glad I’m here now.
